2024 Chicago Auto Show: Here's the 2025 Kia K5

The presence of the 2025 Kia K5 at the 2024 Chicago Auto Show is a reminder that the K5 still exists.

The new year brings 11 more horsepower as a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder replaces the 1.6-liter turbo. The GT trim continues to use a turbocharged 2.5 that puts out 290 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque.

All-wheel drive is available on the GT-Line.

The 2.5 puts out 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque and mates to an eight-speed automatic while the turbo 2.5 mates to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic.

There are more standard features now, including a heated steering wheel and Bose audio.

Updates also include a new front fascia, new instrument display, curved dash, Kia's newest infotainment system, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Other key available features include a digital key, panoramic sunroof, LED interior lighting, navigation-based smart cruise control, 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring, and wireless charging.

As long as we have demolition derbys, we have a need for this car.
Though better if it were a full EV.

1995 SC I stand by my assessment that Toyota put a bunch of "seasoned citizens" that cared not one iota about cars, asked them what they wanted and built it. This was the result. This thing makes a Honda Crosstour or whatever it was look like a Jag E type by comparison.

NJRide My mom had the 2005 Ford 500. The sitting higher appealed to her coming out of SUVs and vans (this was sort of during a flattening of the move to non-traditional cars) It was packaged well, more room than 90s Taurus/GM H-Bodies for sure. I do remember the CVT was a little buzzy. I wonder if these would have done better if gas hadn't spiked these and the Chrysler 300 seemed to want to revive US full-size sedans. Wonder what percent of these are still on the road.
28-Cars-Later Mileage of 29/32/30 is pretty pitiful given the price point and powertrain sorcery to be a "hybrid". What exactly is this supposed to be?
