Used Car of the Day: 2006 Toyota Tundra

Today we bring you an overlanding 2006 Toyota Tundra.

Both the mileage and the ask are high, 230K and $30,000, respectively. That price is presumably high because of the off-road upfitting.

Modifications include front and rear ARB lockers, 4.88 gearing, 35-inch tires, customized frame, customized front and rear bumpers with winches, bed drawers, and bed slides.

Other modifications of note: Fox coilover shocks, lightbars, LED headlights, wiring for HAM and CB radio, train horn, cold-air intake, upgraded stereo, and more.

Yet the seller notes that aside from the intake, the 4.7-liter engine is stock.

  So what you're saying is that if I post something along the lines of the new Tundra is a grotesque characture of what an idiot thinks a truck should look like, all the while it has an interior that resembles a stack of Legos and a Fisher-Price My First Car, combined with the front visibility guaranteed to turn anyone under 5 feet tall into a form of tomato paste, my comment might be deleted? Dave M. The Highlander hybrid, a larger, heavier vehicle, gets better mpgs. Why? Also, missed opportunity - if Toyota had made this a hatchback, they could have scooped up the "want a Tesla S but not ready for a full EV" crowd, however small or large they may be....
TheMrFreeze Difficult call...the more the mainstream automakers discontinue their more affordable models and only sell crazy overpriced EVs and trucks, the more appealing the idea of letting in cheap imported cars becomes with the buying public. If the government is going to impose tariffs on Chinese vehicles, at the same time they need to be getting with the Big 3 and telling them to fill the void with affordable models and not use the tariff as an excuse to simply raise prices. Otherwise, public pressure could see the tariffs withdrawn.I seem to recall the last administration put a 25% tariff on Chinese steel, at which point the US manufacturers immediately used the opportunity to raise their prices 25%...that needs to not happen.
Daniel J The real problem I see is it's about 8K too much. I'd prefer a lower trim but they don't offer enough HP for my tastes.
Teddyc73 Beautiful color, although the overused black wheels detract from it. It's nice to see a car in an interesting color instead of the also grossly overused dull greys.
